Another late one. I wasn’t busy last night, just full of illness and feeling like death. I’m not that much better today, but whatever.
This week in development
A physical prototype of The Lion & The Unicorn now exists! I bought some new card sleeves and got everything printed out. I even found a nice pouch to keep everything in.
Wednesday will hopefully be a first chance to try it out. I’ve solidified my ideas for the rules, but seeing how they work in practice will tell me if any tweaks are needed. I also need to work out if it works for two players, but that will have to wait.
This week in games
Only one game session this week. Hardback arrived on Tuesday (along with the Paperback expansion, but I haven’t tried that out yet), so Wednesday was the perfect time to give it a go.
It’s a more complicated game than PB, which meant it ran a little longer and we didn’t get a chance to finish. I think, now we know the rules, we could definitely manage a full game in the hour and a half we have.
Other than that, my Kickstarter copy of The Lady & The Tiger arrived this week. I’ve only had a chance to play the solo game (Hoard) so far, but it’s an enjoyable puzzle. And quick enough that you’ll find yourself playing it again and again.
This week in everything else
More Leicester comedy festival stuff happened this week. I saw my friend’s sketch show, “Simon and friends put the world to rights”, which was very good. And then I was meant to see Bec Hill last night, but illness meant that didn’t happen.
Nothing of note regarding books/music/etc for this week, so I’ll just embed the Girls’ Game Shelf playthrough of Fog Of Love, as it’s great. I can’t wait to see what they do playing a full RPG.
